Sarcastic comments I can read help remind me that there are expectations from readers. Today someone commented sarcastically about my providing lots of new content regularly. Unfortunately, the email address looks fake – so I shall not publish it. If I get a reply – I’ll publish it.
The comment is correct. I have not published much. I have not been publishing because I like to report on successes – on what I have learned rather than what I still do not know. But, readers – like yourself perhaps – expect new comments.
I wait because when I have a solution I also understand the problem. With that extra understanding I hope that I will be able to provide unique content that increases your understanding as well. IMHO Just reporting that I tried this and it failed does not add any real value.
However, it is a New Year – and it has been quite a while since I have provided any content. And even though it feels more like a diary to me – which I want to avoid I suppose I could tell what I have been trying to do – consicely.
I had success with packaging httpd 2.2.14 and expected the same with httpd-2.0.X. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. Neither has compiling the new alpha version httpd-2.3.4. I have my guesses, but no proof of what the problem is – so no further comments for now.
For years I have been using mysql – largely because mysql precompiles it for AIX. I have been having some issues with mysql of late where I thought it might be interesting to look at postgresql. The build went quickly – but I am having some trouble getting it to load. The program initdb reports it cannot access it’s current directory. Exchanging comments with developers via the mail-lists help but the problem is still unresolved.
Lastly, I have been trying to learn a bit more about wordpress – the tool that manages the blog content. I have installed a plugin to translate the text, but I have not done it correctly because I do not see any extra options for translating the content.
So, again a request for comments – you might prefer to register on the forums at rootvg.net, or you can comment here. If I can read your comment, and it is relevant – I’ll publish it.
And of course – it is that time of year so – Happy and Healthy New Year!
